چکیده

One of the recent critical issues in linking genetic variation to clinical phenotypes is to apply population genetic analyses to high-throughput genomics data to investigate underlying patterns of variation in the human genome. Especially, relating drug response to genetic variation has been emerging in the field of pharmacogenomics [2] with the combined use of genetics and functional genomics data. Thus, we have constructed a database on Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms(SNPs) that were present within genes which codes drug targets. It provides combined information on drug target proteins (including enzyme, receptor, and agonists/antagonists), genes and SNPs. Especially, this Drug-SNP DB will be helpful for obtaining information on drug response study. Although there are some SNP databases, there exists no database which provides search by a drug name itself as a keyword. Drug-SNP DB server provides users to this convenience of using a drug name directly.

Whole-genome genotyping of haplotype tag single nucleotide polymorphisms.

The International HapMap Consortium recently completed genotyping over 3.8 million single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in three major populations, and the results of studying patterns of linkage disequilibrium indicate that characterization of 300,000-500,000 tag SNPs is sufficient to provide good genomic coverage for linkage-disequilibrium-based association studies in many populations. Thes...

The Use of SNPs in Pharmacogenomics Studies.

Pharmacogenomics is the study of how genetic makeup determines the response to a therapeutic intervention. It has the potential to revolutionize the practice of medicine by individualisation of treatment through the use of novel diagnostic tools. This new science should reduce the trial-and-error approach to the choice of treatment and thereby limit the exposure of patients to drugs that are no...

Pharmacogenomics of glibenclamide in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: A systematic review

Introduction: One of the most widely used anti-diabetic drugs is sulfonylureas, which is often used as one of the first-line drugs in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Due to the effect of the patient's genetic structure on the drug response (personalized medicine), the identification of genetic variations not only reduces the rate of adverse drug reactions but can also predict the effectivenes...

DNAs of our lives: The role of pharmacogenomics in modern medicine

More than 100 drugs now mention pharmacogenomic biomarkers on their FDA-approved drug label. Pharmacogenomics is the study of the inherited variations in genes that determine drug response. Often the variations affect a small region of DNA, as small as a single nucleotide, known as a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP). Many genetic tests are based on genotyping to determine which SNPs the pat...

Improved Candidate Drug Mining for Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the main cause of dementia for older people. Although several antidementia drugs such as donepezil, rivastigmine, galantamine, and memantine have been developed, the effectiveness of AD drug therapy is still far from satisfactory. Recently, the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been chosen as one of the personalized medicine markers. Many pharmacogenomics d...
